The idea for Academic Pitstop came to me from a real need. I have never had a proper mentor to guide me along the rocky shoals of science career and so many times I would have needed one. I had to learn too many things the hard way and I have stumbled numerous times. I have learned a lot and I wanted to share this knowledge with fellow passengers along the winding road in the science world and life.
Most people do not have time to read numerous books and to be honest, many of the books are not very useful in real life. I have collected here the most useful tips that have helped me. I love reading and I have tried to concentrate a lot of knowledge into small bites that are easy to digest in the busy everyday life. We are all different and some of the tips and ideas might sink in like a ton of bricks, but some just do not feel right for you. You can pick the ones that speak to you and test them. Some might stick for a long time and some might help to overcome certain difficulties at one specific time.
This is a place for a novice student as well as a seasoned professional. It is easy to ask stupid questions (by the way, there are no stupid questions) when you are young, but it gets much harder along the way and one day you are just assumed to know it all. But it is not true, we are all learning all the time and everyday we learn things that feel we should have known this forever.
This is a place where you can stop for a moment, get refuelled and assess the issues that might prevent you from going forward in your career, work or life.
